Project Overview
ComePlay is a kids’ academic online learning platform built around a simple but powerful idea: that children learn best when they’re engaged, confident, and having fun. The platform offers courses across subjects like Maths, Coding, Geography, and English — each designed with interactive lessons, fun activities, and games that make learning feel less like a task and more like an adventure.
The goal of this project was to design a website that felt as energetic and welcoming as the platform itself — one that spoke directly to kids while also giving parents the clarity and trust they needed to enrol their children without hesitation. Every design decision, from the bold colour palette to the course card layouts, was made with both audiences in mind.
Deliverables: Full website design across desktop (1440px), tablet (768px), and mobile (320px) in Figma, Homepage with hero section, course listings, and platform value proposition, Course browsing section featuring subjects including Maths, Coding, Geography, and English, Complete UI design system including components, colour styles, and typography
Collateral Services: Visual tone and brand personality development suited to a young audience, Content hierarchy and page structure planning for both child and parent user journeys, Fully responsive layout design across all three screen sizes

The Challenge
Designing for children is one of the most demanding briefs in digital product design. The visual language has to be immediately inviting and easy to understand for a young audience — bold, playful, and full of energy — while at the same time remaining clean and credible enough for the parents making the purchasing decision. Getting that balance wrong in either direction — too childish to feel trustworthy, or too corporate to feel welcoming — would undermine the platform’s appeal to both groups.
On top of this, the platform’s course offering needed to be laid out in a way that was instantly browsable and engaging, turning what could feel like a catalogue into something closer to a discovery experience. All of this had to be achieved across three responsive breakpoints within a two-week design window.
Key Obstacles:
- Designing for two distinct audiences simultaneously — children as users and parents as decision-makers
- Creating a visual language that felt playful and energetic without sacrificing clarity or trust
- Making course browsing feel engaging and intuitive across desktop, tablet, and mobile

Our Strategy & Approach
The design approach started with a clear understanding of who was actually using the site and why. Children needed to feel excited and welcomed the moment they landed on the page. Parents needed to feel confident that the platform was structured, safe, and worth their investment. Both journeys had to feel natural without competing with each other.
A warm, high-energy colour palette anchored by bold oranges was used to inject personality and enthusiasm into the design — colours that feel active and optimistic without being overwhelming. The homepage hero was designed to lead with the platform’s core promise — the best kids’ academic online learning experience — backed by imagery of real children learning and growing. Course cards were designed to be visually distinct and immediately scannable, with subject thumbnails, lesson counts, and ratings giving parents the information they needed at a glance. The “Play Learn Grow” section reinforced the platform’s educational philosophy in a way that resonated emotionally with parents. Throughout the two weeks, all screens were designed and refined across 1440px, 768px, and 320px breakpoints, ensuring the experience held up beautifully regardless of the device a family was using.
Behind The Scenes

Results & Impact
The finished ComePlay website design delivered a digital experience that felt entirely in step with the platform’s mission. The site is energetic and welcoming for kids, while being clear and trustworthy for parents — a balance that is genuinely difficult to strike and essential to get right in the education space. Course subjects are easy to find and explore, the platform’s value comes through immediately, and the design holds its quality from the largest desktop screen down to the smallest mobile view. The client received a complete, handoff-ready design that gave ComePlay a strong, confident foundation to launch from.
Key Results:
- A vibrant, child-friendly website design that makes learning feel exciting from the very first screen
- A clear and trustworthy browsing experience for parents evaluating courses and making enrolment decisions
- Fully responsive design delivered across desktop (1440px), tablet (768px), and mobile (320px)
- Complete, handoff-ready design delivered within a two-week timeline
